FAQSTransition FAQs
We understand that a transition like this naturally brings questions. Our goal is to make the process clear, organized, and as seamless as possible. Below are answers to some of the questions you may have about Vessel Wealth Partners and what the transition means for you.
We founded Vessel Wealth Partners to provide our clients with greater flexibility, access to best-in-class technology and planning resources, and the independence to choose the solutions we believe are in our clients’ best interests.
Creating our own independent firm gives us greater control over the client experience while allowing us to continue delivering the personal, planning-first approach that has always guided our work.
Our firm name, office, technology platform, custodian, email addresses, website, and phone number will change as part of the transition to Vessel Wealth Partners.
While there will be several logistical changes, they are being made intentionally to enhance the way we serve and communicate with our clients.
The things that matter most.
You will continue working with Kevin, Shane, and Pat. Our planning-first philosophy, investment approach, commitment to putting your interests first, and the personal relationships we have built together will remain at the center of everything we do.
Your existing financial plan will continue to serve as the foundation for our work together and evolve as your life, priorities, and circumstances change.
Our core philosophy is not changing.
We will continue to take a planning-first approach to your financial life and maintain the investment philosophy and disciplined process that have guided our work together.
Independence gives us additional flexibility, technology, and resources to support that work.
We are proud to partner with Charles Schwab, an established independent custodian serving millions of brokerage accounts and trillions of dollars in client assets.
Schwab will serve as the custodian of client assets, providing services such as safeguarding assets, processing transactions, and providing account statements. Vessel Wealth Partners will remain your advisory firm and primary point of contact for financial planning, investment guidance, and your broader wealth strategy.
Yes. To continue working with our team at Vessel Wealth Partners, we will help you transfer your accounts to our custodian, Charles Schwab.

RBC may charge a $125 account closing fee. Vessel Wealth Partners will reimburse this fee once your applicable accounts arrive at Charles Schwab.
We will help identify any applicable fees and answer questions about your individual accounts during the transition.
No. You will not be charged twice for the same period.
If you have already paid an advisory fee to RBC for the quarter, the portion covering the period after your account transfers is generally refunded to your account. Your new advisory relationship with Vessel Wealth Partners begins only after your account has transferred.
We will be available to review the details with you and answer any questions regarding your specific accounts.
In most cases, investments can transfer in-kind, meaning they can move to the new account without being sold.
If a particular investment cannot transfer or requires special handling, we will identify it and discuss the available options with you before taking action.
In many cases, new accounts established at Charles Schwab will receive new account numbers. We will provide specific information regarding your accounts as part of the transition process.
Yes. As part of the transition to Charles Schwab and Vessel Wealth Partners, you will receive new online account access and technology resources.
One of the reasons we chose to establish an independent firm was to create a more modern and connected client experience, including enhanced planning, reporting, communication, and secure digital capabilities.
We will provide instructions and assist you with getting everything set up.
You do not need to navigate the transition on your own. Our team will be reaching out to clients directly to explain the process, answer questions, and provide the appropriate paperwork and next steps.
Please contact our team directly. We want you to feel informed and comfortable throughout the transition and welcome any questions you may have.
If you choose to keep your account(s) at RBC, they will remain there and will be reassigned to another financial advisor.
That advisor will have access to certain existing account information and records; however, your advisory relationship with Kevin, Shane, and Pat will not continue through RBC. A new advisor will take responsibility for getting to know you, your goals, financial plan, investment strategy, and broader financial circumstances.
